The Tennessee River Yarn Company
I moved to west Tennessee in Sept of 2023 in retirement. I had just begun more intense yarn dying for my own personal use. I had owned a shop in Washington state in 2014 -2017 but had to close to care for my mother who had lung cancer. Once we settled in here, I had made a few friends and was offered the opportunity to rent a good-sized room inside a beautiful quilt shop to sell my yarns and give classes. It just morphed into a whole yarn store when I wasn't looking! I opened my shop in Jan 2025 and became part of what we call the Hobby Hub as there's also a beautiful used bookstore inside our building and I have not looked back. I have also just started my hand at painting with acrylic and I believe it will give me better Insite to my yarn dying.
I love the excitement of people learning to knit or crochet and them using my yarn to create beautiful items. I also make and sell many items in craft and farmers markets, mostly Amigurumi. I'm really looking forward to meeting new customers and friends this year, and what beautiful creations are in store.

Stitching Supply
Stitching Supply began with a simple belief: that every maker deserves a space where high-quality tools meet a high-quality community. We opened our doors in Chickasaw Oaks Village in 2024 with a vision to curate the world’s finest fibers and with a dedication to community.
How We’ve Grown: From a Shop to a Home
Our growth hasn't been measured just in skeins sold, but in the decibel level of the shop on a Saturday afternoon. The "Community Table" is no longer just furniture; it’s our brain trust. It’s where a beginner’s first Magic Circle is cheered on by a table full of experts and where the "Sip & Stitch" laughter carries all the way to the front door. We’ve grown into a full-service home for everyone.
As we look toward the horizon of 2026, we are focused on deepening the bonds that make our fiber community so special. By supporting community outreach organizations with donations of yarn, food, and more, we ensure that the warmth of our community table reaches far beyond the walls of our shop, stitching together a stronger, more resilient Memphis for everyone.

Thread The Needle Stitchery
Thread the Needle Stitchery began as an online cross-stitch shop in 2021. By late 2024, we expanded our offerings to include yarn and crochet supplies. In 2025, we proudly opened our brick-and-mortar store, where we were fortunate to connect with Monica Shupe, an incredible knitter and crocheter—perhaps it was she who found us!
Her expertise inspired us to integrate knitting and crocheting more prominently into our shop's offerings. Today, our store features a diverse mix of needlearts, including cross stitch, crochet, knitting, embroidery, and punch needle.
As newcomers to Tennessee, I envisioned our shop as a community hub. We host “open stitching” sessions whenever the shop is open, and on Thursdays, we extend our hours to accommodate working individuals. In just under a year, we've cultivated a loyal group of regulars who bring their projects to stitch and chat, sometimes visiting daily.
We are eagerly anticipating our participation in the Great Tennessee Yarn Tour this year!
