Meet The Shops: Chattanooga Yarn Company

Chattanooga Yarn Company is Chattanooga’s only Local Yarn Shop, but it’s more than just a store! At Chattanooga Yarn Co, you’ll be at the center of the Chattanooga area’s yarn crafting community. With lots of community events, classes, and fun stuff happening, you’ll soon find out that Chattanooga Yarn Co is a great place to make friends and become part of something larger than yourself or “just” a yarn shop.

As lifelong Chattanoogans, we care about the community around us. Our main charity is Knitted Knockers, and we have free classes and Knocker stuffing parties frequently throughout the year. We donate and sponsor at the Kidney Foundation of Greater Chattanooga, a strictly local charity that gives direct aid to members of our local community with end stage renal disease. We support our local libraries, schools, and other charitable organizations with monetary donations, volunteering, and we’ve collected canned goods, toys for kids, and fiber art supplies for many different educational and charitable organizations. We care deeply about our community because we are a part of this community with roots going back for generations.

As the Chattanooga area has grown, we’ve found that our social events have been an important kind of “welcome wagon” for new members of the community. It can be hard to make friends in a new place, and our little yarn shop has helped people build new relationships in their new home.

And we’re also a yarn shop! We have lots of fun classes, stunning yarn and fiber art supplies, cute little gifts for any occasion, and whatever else tickles our fancy. We’re generous with our help, and have always given assistance to anybody who gets stuck on a knitting or crochet project no matter where they bought the yarn. Selling yarn is the foundation upon which our entire community is built, but it’s just one part of our family of fiber friends. Everybody who works at Chattanooga Yarn Co comes in the door every morning happy to be here, excited to see which of our friends come to visit us each day!

For the Great Tennessee Yarn Tour, we’ll have a suite of custom yarn colors from our local hand-dyer, Stella Luna Fiber Co., including our special GTYT mini — and everything will revolve around a theme! We’ll have plenty of special themed merchandise from local artisans and lots of fun and fresh gift items and notions.

Whether you’re looking for a sturdy, washable yarn for a baby blanket, an ethereal mohair for an exquisite shawl, a dreamy cashmere for a cozy cowl, a special hand-dye for the perfect sweater, or an easy amigurumi kit for a fun little distraction, we’ve got all the best products — but what we really have is our community. We’re so happy to see you!

Chattanooga Yarn Company is located inside Northgate Mall at 304 Northgate Mall Drive. The easiest entrance is the main mall entrance next to Old Navy. Our shop is handicap accessible with plenty of dedicated handicap parking. Restrooms are available in the shop and Northgate Mall has lots of food and shopping in the area.
